We Support |

Sands is a charity that’s very close to the hearts of everyone in the Guru family, with some of our people experiencing baby loss either directly or indirectly. Sands are the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity in the UK. Sands provides bereavement support services both nationally through its freephone helpline, mobile app, online community and resources, and locally through a UK-wide network of around 100 regional support groups.

Over the last few years we have supported Sands and carried out over 20 events or challenges and raised thousands for the charity. All staff at Guru Technology have completed training so we can support our friends, families and colleagues in the event they lose a child.

Community Impact

Through our collective efforts, we’ve raised a significant amount to aid families facing challenges and provide essential support to disadvantaged children during the lockdown.

Together, we’re making a meaningful impact on those in need.

Why We Support

Sands supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during, or shortly after birth. When we lost Benjamin in 1998, we weren’t aware of the charity and relied on our network of family and friends, however, in 2019 I was made aware of the charity and the wonderful work it does supporting bereaved parents, grandparents, and other family and friends.

I have since, been to many support meetings enabling me to gain further support and giving me the opportunity to support others who have been affected. As Chairman of the original Sands Utd Football Club (there are now more than 40 clubs around the UK), I am immensely proud of the work done to support men, when they need it most.

#Tech4Kids

Through COVID our Managing Director, Arran Kirton spotted issues with the way families were being supported with home learning. Through discussions with local schools, families and organisations the Guru Tech4Kids initiative was born and we uncovered a tremendous amount of local and UK wide “tech poverty”.

Over a 15 month period, the amazing Guru team and supporting families and friends supplied laptops, phones, tablets and broadband for free to over 550 children and fund raised to the tune of over 70K to help local families and schools through this tough time.

“It was our duty to stand up as a business and be counted during a time when schools and young people needed support. We wanted to lead the way for change and pilot this campaign to help local schools and kids. With the help of TV, radio and social media we managed to make a real difference. This wouldnt have been possible without the Guru team raising awareness, funds and delivering stock to the community in super fast timescales, in and out of hours! I am immensely proud of what the community and the team managed to achieve in such a short space of time!”
